Gironda dips
« on: April 30, 2013, 12:59:41 PM »
This is an exercise that I really like! There's two "correct" versions of them, one with Larry Scott and one with Daryl Conant.
Personally I think that Larry's version is better and safer.

Larry's (@4.10):http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3pbVpBBsVg&feature=player_embedded

These two videos are great, Steff!  I always thought what was the real difference between the famous Gironda Dips and the usual triceps dips. it is in the grip.
These video always explain why the pec of Larry go down as time goes by. He doesn't train it a lot, instead his big arms, that remain big until the last years.

I prefer the version of Larry too.

I like to do Standard Dips because i find "gironda" Dips not really Joint friendly.

We're all different, I actually use them when I've got shoulder pain from benching. You're wise not to use them if it hurts or feels too weird in your joints.

VG tried to Change a few exercises and was in my opinion not always correct. Like a lot of "Gurus" at that time. I did like his physique so it worked for him. His Sissy squats i never liked either. may as well hit your knees with a hammer..

Some of Gironda's exercises are safer if you rotate them in and out of your routines. Having said that some exercises may not be appropriate/harmful for your unique physique, so listen to your body. There's no "one size fits all"!
